About My Car
I previously owned a 1974 Mustang II coupe
4-cylinder, and while I owned it, I thought about getting
a V8 II. I looked at a Blue '75 coupe, then a '76 Cobra
II. I came close to buying each, but didn't, and later
regretted it, especially the Cobra.
I was starting to really want a Cobra, but the right
one, a White & Blue '76, V8, 4-speed, with console
and aluminum rims, like the one I almost bought.
Eventually, I settled on a Fox-bodied Mustang to replace the
Cavalier I had after the '74 II. I still looked for that
right Cobra, though. I even thought about taking a
Mustang hatchback and converting it, but that was too
expensive. But 5 months later I found a Cobra.
It had everything I wanted, plus it was left stock
and the engine was rebuilt to stock specs 11K miles
before. After looking at it a while, I noticed an old
Virginia registration sticker from '87 left on the
windshield.
Then I remembered the Cobra I looked at 2 1/2 years
before had that same sticker! It was my second chance at
this Cobra, and I didn't want to let it get away from me
again. I talked the guy down $700 to 2 grand, the same
amount that the previous owner was asking. But my chances
of actually getting the car were slim, I had to sell my
Mustang first to get the money. Then something unbelieveable
happened.
An old, senile guy turned into the driver's side of
the Mustang while I was driving past him! He cost about $2000
damage to my car! The insurance company gave me enough
money to fix the Mustang, and buy the Cobra!
I've owned it since December 4, 1995, and its complete
re-paint job was finished at the beginning of August,
1997.
