About My Car
This my friends, is my 1974 Mustang II. It has been nothing but trouble
since I bought her in 2002. But, how could I say no? Look at that innocent
face. Wait, is that a grin?
Ok, one drive in it and I was hooked. I have never driven _anything_ this
fun. So I guess I'm keeping her. It is sort of a legacy now isn't it? So
far I have spent my hard earned cash replacing everything that was all
together broken or malfunctioning. And boy have I learned a LOT about cars.
I was a total beginner when I started, but now, I can even help my friends
with some things. Ain't that something? My goal with the car is to make a,
not a showstopper, either on the negative or the positive side, but a car
in very good condition, a nice daily driver even, except in Sweden nobody
in their right mind drives a car like this during the winter, because the
Swedish government spreads a shitload of salt on the roads to keep them
ice-free. And we all know what a combo of salt and moisture does to metal.
And now a quick run-through of the pictures.
1: Casual, casual.
2: Notice the many different types of paint on this car. Some dope put the
wrong primer on it, so the paint is letting go of the metal. I filled in
the places where bare metal was showing, just to prevent rust, until such a
time I can get it repainted.
3: The engine-bay. The previous owner put some energy in adding some nice
chrome features. I will try continuing to do so, there are still some parts
that can be chromed. :-)
4: First time out on a real cruise. It's hard to see in this picture, but
there is a loooong line of cars behind the Volvo there. Never saw so many
ponies in my life! Lots of other American iron too. And that poor
Volvo-owner was just trying to get through town that day. Hundreds and
hundreds of enthusiast cars in my little town. Joy!
5: Just showing off my street-legal dual side exhaust. Not much to look at,
but the sound, oh mama. Actually the side exhaust was more a practical
thing than a cool thing I wanted to do, since it was much easier to just
pull the pipes out on the side than bother with the rear axle and the
really narrow behind of the Mustang II. I will probably have the exhaust
come out the rear again some day after I put a new gas tank in it that
allows for simpler exhaust-routing.
6: This is me all happy and grinning because I just acquired a H.O. EFI
intake manifold. This little baby is scheduled to get its place under the
hood, in the winter of 2006. I would be really grateful for all help in
finding a 1989-1992 Mustang EFI harness in good condition. *shameless plug*
7: I have a dual 2.5" system with H-pipe, and two of these babies. Please do
listen to them at: http://www.metasyntactic.se/mustang/index.html
8 and 9: More parts I had to change. Nice to be able to find brand new
replacement parts for a car this old. I thought I would have more problem
in this area when I first started. Thank God for forums. Speaking of
forums, come check out the local Mustang Forum nordicmustang.com Which is a
free for all, non censored forum for all Mustangs. *another shameless plug*
Well th-th-that's all folks, and please don't hesitate to drop me a line
about anything, I'd be delighted to hear from all you other
MustangII-people out there.
