About My Car
Hello,
My name is Ken Hybicki, and I live in Appleton Wisconsin. This is my 1976 Mustang that I have owned since 1985 and like to tinker with it during the winter months and beat on it during the summer months. It sports a 302 with stout lower end and windsor sr heads with 2.02 valves, 10.5:1 compression, comp nitrous cam, air gap intake, 750 race demon carb, twin feul systems feed the beast, 3" 2-chamber flowmaster mufflers, 3200 stall converter with built c4 tranny, 5 lug maverick axles with 3:55 gears in the factory 8" housing, pizza cutters on the front and 10.5" drag radials out back, the front end is fiberglass along with the hatch, racing buckets with 5 point harness, nos cheater system in the hatch, 12 point boxed cage keeps things from twisting around. best run to date on the motor 13:31@108mph but with the small 150 hp shot is a 11:97 @118mph and this was with a extra 6 degrees of timing in it for safety. The suspension is mostly stock and the car runs straight with no suprises ever. Now the car has the 250hp shot in it and I Have only tested it on the street (it kicks like a mule) cant wait until spring. FYI my wife also races with me in her 1978 King Cobra (I Bought it as a parts car for $75.00). Her car is a 302v8 with the four speed and 4:11 power trax center, holley 650 and headers with duals. How many guys get to have two drag cars (with the wifes permission)?! This winter I painted it 1969 competition orange and added custom mach1 reflective decals, fiberglass bumpers and cut the boss hood scoop and turned it around. The quarter windows are pop out units and the loovers are plastic after market pieces. The rear tire spats were too small for my wheelwells and I used 1977 trans-am units with sheet metal screws to hold the leading edge. The rest of the spoilers are king cobra factory parts. the entire cost of this paint project is less than $1400 including all materials, spoilers, loovers, rubbers pieces and paint.
Update 5/21/2004
I added the black-out section after I came across a '71 Mach1 that inspired me. I didn't like the factory Mach1 Mustang II larger black section so I masked off and painted the area between the tail lights and removed the tail light trim and painted them as well. I felt the back of the car was too orange. If people want to e-mail me questions, feel free, because I will try to answer all questions.
