About My Car

My daughter waited 5 years for us to start working on her Mustang. We finally started it in 2006 and it is now here daily driver. It is a 1978 Cobra Clone with lots of mods. It started life as a stock white V8 fastback. We upgraded it to a 1990 5.0 HO with an AOD Tranny. This took lots of time and fab work including modifying the exhaust manifolds and tranny dip stick as well as building a custom tranny mount. We also customizing a 5.0 shifter to look like a 1978. We had a custom exhaust built which difficult because there was virtually no room under the car with the AOD stuffed in there. We added a customized 1969 428 CobraJet hood scoop (no turn signal lights or holes), 15” wheels, CD player with speakers, all the Cobra items like the badges, rear spoiler, rear and side louvers, rear sway bar, etc. as well as openable rear side windows and aftermarket front spoiler. We completely rebuilt the car from top to bottom, front to back. It took us 11 months to compete it and we (my daughter and I) did all the work ourselves including body, Paint, Drive train and most of the interior in our garage. The seats were redone at a local interior shop. This is her daily driver and she has a blast driving it. We took it to a local show last year where she won her first trophy. She helped with all aspects of the car and was the inspiration for completing the project. We have lots of great memories for life.
